Dear Seniors and Friends,
Greetings from New Delhi!
I wish to express gratitude to all the AOCN members for entrusting faith in me and electing me as President AOCN. It is indeed a matter of great honour to lead the most able and committed group of Child Neurologists especially because I have had the privilege to be one of the seven founding members of AOCN way back in 2002.
AOCN has gone from strength to strength with 430 plus members at present, representing the outcome of truly remarkable efforts made by all the founders, past presidents, other office bearers and in fact all the members. I feel indebted to them and seek blessings from all our senior members and comraderies from fellow colleagues for all our upcoming endeavors.
I must say that Dr Anaita Hegde, our immediate past president, Dr Kavita Srivastava, immediate past Secretary and their efficient team can look back with pleasure and pride on the achievements made by AOCN during their tenure. I humbly congratulate them for a successful tenure. I was privileged to be a part of this amazing team as president elect.
As the incoming President ( installation on 3rd February,2023 at Child Neurocon Pune ), I would like to stress that AOCN is like a "FAMILY" whose strengths are collegiality, friendship, professional integrity and selflessness. I am a great believer of these principles and would want our AOCN members to consider AOCN as our extended family. I would like to call upon each member young and old alike to be vocal and to feel free in sharing ideas, vision and desire.
My top priority would be to provide a cohesive environment for focused learning, teaching, research and advocacy by creation of Special Interest Groups( which will work for all aspects encompassed by various verticals), advocate for rights of children with special needs, develop regional ethics committees, a channel for too and fro patient referral for expert opinions, promote welfare of our fellow members ( creation of legal support system) and disseminate updated evidence based child neurology practices to even the most remote corners of our country. This would lead to expansion of the base of pyramid. Additionally, we have to raise our practice to a level which is amongst the best in the world by working on the apex of the pyramid.
Please revert with concerns and suggestions.
Looking forward to working together for betterment of children with Neurological / Neurodevelopmental disorders, their parents and professionals looking after them.
Best Wishes,
